Below are the most frequently asked questions by our consumers.

Q. What is the expiration date on a can of STAGG® Chili?

A. We do not include an expiration date on the can. The shelf life is

indefinite as long as the seal is intact and the can is in good condition.

STAGG® Chili is processed with a vacuum seal and is cooked at a high

temperature which makes it a shelf stable item .

Because of the processing techniques, as long as the seal is intact, this

product is safe to use indefinitely. Storage of cans in a cool and dry

environment will help preserve the flavor. We recommend that for maximum flavor,

the product be used within five years of the manufacturing date. After

that, the product is still safe to use , however, the flavor declines

gradually.

Q. What do the codes printed on the can mean? How do I interpret the codes?

A.The codes identify the plant location, production date, time of

production and confirm the production formula.

The first letter indicates the manufacturing facility.

The next 2 numbers indicate the month the product was processed

The next 2 numbers indicate the day it was processed

The next 1 number indicates the year it was processed

For example : a code date of S02050 means it was processed in Stockton ,

California on February 5, 2000

The next set of numbers identifies the hour and minutes that the product

was processed

For example: a code of 18:40 means it was processed at 6:40 pm

The next line of information provides formula identification, internal

production shift information and the USDA

establishment number 199C.

For example : STAGG CLASSIC Chili USA CL
